Amid fierce competition for subscribers, Netflix will have to watch out for new competition: SkyShowtime.
This new app comes with a large catalog and a ‘lifetime’ launch offer that will hopefully convince users. The problem? For the moment it will only be available in Europe.
SkyShowtime: The catalog
SkyShowtime is going to collect series and movies from a large number of distributors such as Showtime, Nickelodeon, Paramount Pictures, Paramount+, Sky Studios, Universal Pictures and Peacock.
We will be able to watch this catalog series like ‘Halo’ and ‘Star Trek’ or movies like ‘Jurassic Park’, ‘Mission Impossible’ and ‘Fast & Furious’, all in 4K and HDR playback. New releases such as ‘Bosé’ and ‘Los enviados’ will also arrive.
SkyShowtime also collects several defunct HBO Max originals, 21 of its original series that will thus get a second life.
The service will be available from February 28 for 20 countries in Europe.
How much will SkyShowtime cost?
SkyShowtime will be priced at $6 per month in the European Union.
However, to catch new users, the company has decided to grant a 50% discount for life, paying only 3 euros per month.
