Sparta won 4-1 in Rotterdam from bottom-placed SC Cambuur. With the win, Sparta knows it is definitely sixth.

Big stakes were not at stake, as Cambuur was already relegated and Sparta already had a ticket for the playoffs for European soccer in its pocket. Still, there was plenty to enjoy.

Cambuur in the lead

Goalkeeper Nick Olij turned away a penalty by Cambuur striker Roberts Uldrikis in the opening stages, before a fine header by Marco Tol gave the Leewarders the 1-0 lead after all. This happened after just under ten minutes.

Sparta coach Steijn would also like a ‘dessert’ after ‘great season’

Koki Saito scored the 1-1 after half an hour with a blast into the far corner and Michael Pinto gave the Rotterdammers the lead just under ten minutes before halftime. He plucked a dropped ball out of the air in one go and fired a controlled shot from the edge of the box.

Joshua Kitolano decided the game five minutes later with a header placed in the far corner.

Early in the second half, after a shot on the post by Uldrikis, Namli provided the final score with a dry shot from distance.
