Elon Musk is looking to counter Microsoft and Google’s artificial intelligence efforts with “truth-seeking AI” that avoids political correctness, he said in an interview aired late Monday.
The billionaire head of Twitter and Tesla again expressed concern over the danger of the artificial intelligence (AI), by saying that it has “the potential to destroy civilization.”
He added that he was concerned that the bot ChatGPT created by the startup OpenAI was being taught to be politically correct.
“I’m going to start up something called. TruthGPTor an AI that seeks absolute truth and tries to understand the nature of the universe,” Musk said.
The AI would see people as an interesting part of the universe and would decide not to “annihilate humans,” according to Musk.
He creates his own artificial intelligence company
Musk has created a corporation of artificial intelligence X.AI based in the U.S. state of Nevada, according to corporate documents.
It recently merged Twitter with a newly created shell company “X” and kept the brand name for the platform, but not for the business.
Elon Musk founded a rival OpenAI company several weeks before joining the experts who signed an open letter urging a general pause in the development of AI technology.
The signatories argued that the pause should serve to strengthen regulation and ensure the safety of AI systems.
A technology on the rise
Large technology companies such as Google, Meta and Microsoft have been working for years on systems of artificial intelligence, formerly known as machine learning or big data, to aid in translations, search and targeted advertising.

Musk co-founded OpenAI but left the company in 2018.
