Tesla reports new fatal accident due to autonomous driving and adds to 17 since June 2021

A new problem for Tesla, the company of electric cars from the billionaire Elon Musk.

Tesla reported a new fatal accident involving its highly-publicized system of autonomous driving.

Bloomberg reports that the company complied with the obligation to report the accident to regulators.

This becomes the 17th such accident since June 2021, when the requirement to report such incidents began.

New Tesla accident: what happened?

A Model S from Tesla collided with an emergency vehicle in San Francisco Bay in February.

“Slow down and get off the road when approaching emergency vehicles. A truck was struck by a Tesla When it was blocking the track due to a previous accident. The driver was pronounced dead on scene. Four firefighters were transported for evaluation,” tweeted a account of a Fire Department of San Francisco February 18, at the time of the accident.

The so-called “autopilot” of Tesla has been challenged. It requires the driver to keep his or her hands on the vehicle at all times, but there are easy ways to fool the company’s in-car sensors of Elon Musk.

Also criticized is the manner in which Tesla promotes its autonomous driving. Recently, a company engineer told a court that a 2016 promotional video showing the technology was a “sham.”
