‘Van Halst to succeed Blind on rvc Ajax’

NOS Football–
Jan van Halst is to succeed Danny Blind on Ajax’s supervisory board, De Telegraaf writes. The reigning national champion initially thought Danny Blind would resume his role after his temporary tenure as assistant national team coach, but the former player renounced that. Therefore, Ajax had to look for a new soccer commissioner. The Amsterdammers found that one in Van Halst.

Like Blind, the 53-year-old native of Utrecht is a former Ajax player. In the period 1999-2002, at the end of his career, Van Halst was a selection player. After his first season in Amsterdam, the former player of FC Utrecht, FC Wageningen and FC Twente was banished to dressing room 2 by new coach Co Adriaanse.
After Van Halst returned from a rental period to Fortuna Sittard, Adriaanse’s successor, current national coach Ronald Koeman, saw in the veteran a useful link and he became a base player again.
