iOS 17: Apple would have no mercy with more iPhones losing support

Apple prepares iOS 17the new version of its operating system to be unveiled at WWDC 23.

This could be a very far-reaching release, as it would withdraw support for several iPhone y iPad for iPadOS 17at least according to my report Macrumors based on “a source with a proven track record” when it comes to software updates.

Which iPhone and iPad would be left without iOS 17/ iPadOS 17?

📱iPhone 8

📱iPhone 8 Plus

📱iPhone X

📱iPad Pro first generation (9.7 in.)

📱iPad Pro first generation (12.9-inch)

📱iPad 5th gen.

How possible is this?

With this, the iPhone launched in 2017 would lose support for the new version of iOS, going against a policy of Apple focused on maintaining support as long as possible.

Recall that iOS 16 removed support for iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE (1st generation), iPhone 7 y iPhone 7 Plus just last year.

It is unlikely, but if Apple has very ambitious plans with iOS 17there is a possibility that it will close the door to the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus y iPhone X.

As for the iPadit is much more likely that Apple do remove support for the models listed. The iPad 5th generation works with the A9 chipchip, the same as the one found in the no longer supported iPhone 6S y iPhone 6S Plus. The first generation of the iPad Pro also works with a variant of the same chip, the A9X.
