Real and tenth-ranked Atlético draw in dull derby despite majestic headed goals

NOS Football–
Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid fell short of a draw in the La Liga topper. In the dull derby, the visitors played the last half hour with ten men and even took the lead, but it ended up 1-1 at Santiago Bernabéu.
The match was unwatchable for a long time. The pace was slow and before halftime only Karim Benzema had a chance. After more than an hour of drudgery, Ángel Correa received a red for a slight elbow strike, with Antonio Rüdiger gladly going to the ground.
Although the match had little excitement, the two goals were the textbook example of a perfect goal with the head.
First, it was José María Giménez who headed in stone-hard in the 78th minute after an Antoine Griezmann free kick.
With that, Atlético appeared to be heading for a surprise win, but eighteen-year-old Alvaro Rodriguez helped Real past side one.
The substitute headed the ball beautifully from a corner to the far corner and made the equalizer via the inside of the post.
Depay on the bench
At Atlético, Memphis Depay remained on the bench for the entire match. The Murderer is still waiting in La Liga for his first starting place since his switch from Barcelona to Madrid.
