The Last of Us, record ratings for second episode of HBO TV series

Last night the second episode of the HBO TV series of The Last of Us, and Naughty Dog’s game adaptation likes it so much that it continues to break new records.

As reported by Variety, Nielsen, in combination with data from Warner Bros. Discovery, analyzed that 5.7 million viewers immediately watched the second episode of The Last of Us (HBO’s numbers as a satellite network and streaming on the HBO Max platform were combined). This is a 22 percent increase in audience from the 4.7 million viewers of the first episode, a number that reached 10 million two days after the episode’s release.

According to HBO, the remarkable increase in the second episode’s viewership over that of the first episode represents “the largest second-week audience growth for an HBO original drama series in the network’s history.” HBO also offered another update regarding the first episode’s viewership, stating that “after a full week of availability, Episode 1 had 18 million viewers, a nearly fourfold increase over its primetime audience.”

The first two episodes of The Last of Us are available in Italy on Sky and Now. The third episode will air on Monday night, January 30.
