Ahead of the Champions League final, Internazionale have already won another final match. The Milan team took the Coppa Italia thanks to a 2-1 win over Fiorentina, who are in the Conference League final.

Lautaro Martínez was Inter’s big man with two goals at the end of the first half. The Argentine brushed away the early opening goal by his compatriot Nicolas Gonzalez.

In the second half, both teams still had good chances, but no more goals were scored in Rome. For example, Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic – favored over André Onana in the cup – saved a great chance for Fiorentina striker Luka Jovic.

Dumfries and De Vrij

At Inter, who won the Super Cup earlier this season, Denzel Dumfries played the entire final and Stefan de Vrij came on half an hour before time. Sofyan Amrabat played the first seventy minutes at Fiorentina.

It is the ninth time Inter has been able to put the cup in their trophy cabinet. The ‘Nerazzurri’ also won the Coppa Italia last season. Fiorentina remains stuck on six final wins.

The team from Florence, only 11th in Serie A, has two more league matches to play before it can set its sights on the Conference League final against West Ham United, on June 7 in Prague.

Inter’s European final is scheduled three days later. In Istanbul, the team will take on Manchester City with the Champions League at stake.
