Toulouse recalls Aboukhlal to selection after internal investigation

French soccer club Toulouse has reinstated former AZ player Zakaria Aboukhlal to the squad after he was removed from it earlier this week. An investigation by the club and a meeting with deputy mayor Laurence Arribagé led the management to conclude that Aboukhlal had not made any misogynistic statements.

Arribagé reportedly asked for silence after Toulouse’s cup win when addressing the player group. Aboukhlal, according to French medium RMC Sport, allegedly responded by saying “women where he comes from don’t talk to men like that.

Aboukhlal met with Arribagé this week to discuss the issue. Through his social media channels, he revealed that in that conversation she confirmed that RMC’s report “did not reflect what really happened.”

The club drew the same conclusion. Aboukhlal will therefore be able to play in the away game with Nice this weekend as usual.
