FC Twente managed to score as many as three goals in Utrecht, but still stepped off the field as loser in the Galgenwaard. The home team prevailed 1-0 thanks to a valid goal by Sander van de Streek.
The three Twente goals turned out to be illegitimate because of offside, although three of them were extremely close. The defeat means that Sparta Rotterdam is now fifth, with the Tukkers one point down.

Utrecht started energetically with chances for Mark van der Maarel (saving Lars Unnerstall) and Victor Jensen (over). Not much later, a goal by Joshua Brenet after Ricky van Wolfswinkel was previously offside.
Twente cheered again in vain midway through the first half. Sem Steijn thought to be the celebrated man, but this time teammate Vaclav Cerny threw a spanner in the works.
On the stroke of half-time Utrecht again came close to scoring 1-0. From a cross by Othmane Boussaid, Anastasios Douvikas headed just over.
Third Twente goal disallowed as well
In the second half, things were not going well for Twente for the third time. Van Wolfswinkel scored on a pass from Gijs Smal, but was found to be just offside at the start of the attack.

Utrecht sends ‘flowers towards Zeist’, Twente sees duel as ‘harrowing’
So it did not turn out to be Twente’s afternoon. Especially not when, twenty minutes before time, Van de Streek picked up a mediocre kick from Unnerstall, trounced Michel Vlap and then finished.
Twente, which hosts Sparta next week, thus lost in the Eredivisie for the first time since late February, while number seven Utrecht was able to add three points again after its win at Groningen.
