Minecraft, the movie has a new release date: coming in 2025

As reported this evening by The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. has decided to make several changes to its release schedule, unveiling the new release date of the Minecraft movie.
The film release of Mojang’s highly popular home-grown sandbox was originally scheduled for 2022, but has apparently been pushed back to April 4, 2025-so we will have to wait another three years, barring any further postponements or delays due to production, to see the Minecraft movie.
Jared Hess, director of Napoleon Dynamite, will direct the big-screen adaptation of the popular video game. Mary Parent, producer of Dune, and Roy Lee will handle production, while Jill Messick will receive a posthumous credit for collaborating on the film before her death in 2018. Executive producers include Jon Berg, Cale Boyter and Jon Spaihts. Lydia Winters and Vu Bui of Mojang will also produce the film.
While we don’t yet have much information about the Minecraft live-action film, what we do know is that Jason Momoa, star of Aquaman but not limited to it, will be among the lead characters in an as-yet unknown role.
