Thanks in part to an unleashed Karim Benzema, Real Madrid recorded an easy win over Real Valladolid (6-0) in the Spanish league. The Frenchman scored a hat trick within seven minutes in the first half.

Despite the victory, Real Madrid remains well behind leaders FC Barcelona, which won 4-0 over bottom-placed Elche on Saturday. The distance between the number one and the number two also remains 12 points after this weekend.

Number three Atlético Madrid recorded a home victory over Real Betis (1-0) on Sunday night. Angel Correa scored the only goal of the match. Memphis Depay did not participate, he is injured.

La Liga

Real Madrid had no problem with Valladolid at their own Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. After 22 minutes, Rodrygo opened the scoring. Seven minutes later, Benzema scored the second Madrid goal with a header and his gala performance was open.

Because four minutes after that, he scored again. From the edge of the penalty area, the Frenchman shot tightly into the corner. In the 35th minute, seven minutes (!) after his first goal, Benzema scored again. A cross from Rodrygo was worked in by means of a beautiful “standing turn”.

In the second half, Real Madrid took it easy. Benzema was substituted for Eden Hazard just under twenty minutes after halftime and Marco Asensio scored the fifth goal ten minutes later. The final chord was for Lucas Vázquez, who fired in the 6-0.

Lewandowski still top scorer

Benzema’s hat trick means he is now second on the Spanish league’s top scorer list with fourteen goals. He is only ahead of Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski, who has scored seventeen goals so far.
