says he is “innocent” and speaks of “witch hunt” to be turned against Biden
Former President Donald Trump (2017-2021) said Thursday, just after learning of his indictment in a New York court, that it is a further sign of the “witch hunt” to which he is subjected and that “he is going to turn massively against (President) Joe Biden.”
“Never before in the history of our nation – Trump recalls – has this ever been done,” says the former president, who accuses Biden’s Democratic Party of “using Justice as a weapon to punish a political opponent.” y lists instances where the “radical Democratic left” is attempting to “destroy the Make America Great Again movement.”
Trump, to whom this historic indictment comes in the midst of his campaign to be chosen as the Republican candidate for the 2024 presidential election, is already using his first line to lambast the Democrats for what he considers “political persecution and electoral interference”. And he throws the dart at Manhattan U.S. Attorney Alvin Bragg, whose office is investigating payments to silence porn actress Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential campaign, for which the grand jury voted to indict him.
He accuses Bragg, who has received hundreds of threats in recent days, of having been “hand-picked and funded” by Democratic tycoon George Soros, and of doing “dirty work for Joe Biden” instead of fighting crime in New York City.
Every last one of these corrupt democrats must be removed from office to make America great again
The statement evokes the messages that prompted the assault on Capitol Hill in 2021, with a final call to his supporters and the Republican Party to “defeat” Bragg and Biden, and to “get every last one of these corrupt Democrats out of office to make America great again.”
Minutes later, he added a second message with the same tone, all in capital letters, comparing his imputation to an “attack” against the country and its “free and fair elections,” and sentencing that the U.S., “is now a Third World nation, a nation in serious decline.”
Trump Jr: “This would make Mao blush.”
Trump’s son, for his part, says justice has been instrumentalized. “I got the news about 10 or 15 minutes ago (…), Is the kind of bullshit on the level of a communist (country). This would make Mao, Stalin or Pol Pot blush.“, said Donald Trump Jr. in a live broadcast of his podcast “Triggered“. Trump Jr assured that the charges, which are not yet known, are supported by “weak legal theories” and says that the investigation against his father is an example of the “instrumentalization of justice” in the U.S. for political purposes.
A similar message gave Taylor Budowich, the spokesman for the political action committee Make America Great Again (MAGA), which campaigns on Trump’s behalf. “The political elites and those who wield power have instrumentalized the government to try to stop him (Trump). They are going to fail and he will be re-elected in the most sweeping manner in U.S. history,” he said in a statement.
