Rick Karsdorp is out of action again for a while with an injury. The AS Roma right-back, just back from another injury, has undergone surgery on his meniscus.

Karsdorp will miss the double encounter with his old club Feyenoord in the quarter-finals of the Europa League anyway. Exactly how long he will need for his recovery is not known. Currently, Karsdorp is still staying at the Swiss clinic where he underwent surgery.

Last Thursday, Karsdorp dropped out of AS Roma’s European game with Real Sociedad. He was also badly injured shortly after his transfer from Feyenoord to Roma in 2017.

Accepted into grace

Karsdorp also missed a string of games due to a hefty row with coach José Mourinho. A few weeks before the winter break, he fell out of favor with the Portuguese rather suddenly.

At the time, Mourinho denounced Karsdorp’s attitude, which he said had let the team down. Karsdorp entered the field against Sassuolo as a substitute and, prior to a counter goal, was out of position at a throw-in.

It seemed to herald his departure from Roma, but Mourinho eventually accepted him into grace. Since then, Karsdorp made six appearances.
