Trainer Lukkien swaps Emmen for old love FC Groningen in summer
Trainer Dick Lukkien is leaving FC Emmen for FC Groningen after this season, general manager Wouter Gudde has confirmed. The 50-year-old Groninger succeeds Dennis van der Ree, who took over from the sacked Frank Wormuth in December.
Lukkien has been trainer of Emmen since 2016 and made history with the club in 2018 by promoting to the premier league for the first time. Emmen relegated in 2021, but promoted again last season.
Promises and assistant
From 2010 to 2016, Lukkien already worked in Groningen. He was trainer of the pledge team there and later assistant coach. FC Emmen and FC Groningen are both fighting relegation this season.
