Miami Beach imposes curfew after another death in tourist area

The authorities of Miami Beach decreed this Sunday a state of emergency and imposed a curfew in the tourist areafollowing two consecutive nights of shootings that have left two dead and two wounded.
The curfew, which begins at midnight on Sunday and ends at 6 a.m. (11.00 GMT) on Monday, has been imposed “in response to the two shootings and to the excessively large and unruly crowds, and to mitigate dangerous and unlawful conduct“, as explained in a press release by this city in South Florida (USA).

Miami Beach Administrator Alina Hudak plans to impose from curfew againwhich will be limited to the touristy South Beach neighborhood, between Thursday, March 23 and Monday, March 26, as he will propose to the city council in a special session on Monday, according to the statement.
Weekend shootings
The measure has been imposed following an exchange of gunfire that occurred Friday night at a busy South Beach intersection that left one person dead and another seriously injured.
Upon arrival at the scene, police officers found two men with gunshot wounds, who were transported to a local hospital, where shortly thereafter one of them eventually perished.
A third man was detained by officers, who recovered three firearms at the scene.

Four blocks from where that event occurred, an area of packed with bars and nightclubs, a new shooting took place in the early hours of Sunday morning which resulted in a dead man and another injured, local police reported, adding that a man was arrested as a suspect and the murder weapon was found nearby.
