Dutchman Marten de Roon made an important contribution to his club Atalanta Bergamo’s victory over Empoli (2-1) with a goal.

The Dutchman headed in a hit for Atalanta more than ten minutes after halftime. It was the equalizer. In the first half, Tyronne Ebuehi, former player of ADO Den Haag and FC Twente, had given Empoli the lead.

In the 86th minute, Rasmus Höjlund scored the liberating, winning goal for Atalanta.

The win puts Atalanta more firmly in sixth place, while it still has the prospect of a spot in the Champions League. For that, the club must finish among the first four.

Serie A standings

Two more noteworthy matches are scheduled in Italy this weekend. The city derby between Lazio and AS Roma will be played on Sunday. As well as the “Derby d’Italia,” between Internazionale and Juventus, which due to the fifteen point deduction is not a high-flyer this season.

Roma’s Rick Karsdorp will miss the ‘Derby della Capitale’ because he needs surgery on his nose. The Dutch right-back left the field heavily battered on Thursday in the Europa League match against Real Sociedad (0-0).

AS Roma reached the quarter-finals through the tie after winning 2-0 in the first game. The opponent in the quarter-finals is Feyenoord.
