AZ will take on Anderlecht in the quarterfinals of the Conference League. On April 13 is the out game in Brussels, a week later is the return in Alkmaar.

At Anderlecht, Dutch goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen will be under the crossbar. He was called up for Orange for the first time earlier today. Captain of the club is Belgian record international and former Ajax player Jan Vertonghen.

Other quarterfinals

The draw for the semifinals was immediate. In those, AZ might take on the winner of AA Gent against West Ham United. The other quarter-finals are between Lech Poznan and Fiorentina and between FC Basel and OGC Nice.

This year’s Conference League final is in Prague.

The draw in the Conference League

Anderlecht eliminated Villarreal yesterday. At home, ‘Purple-White’ is having a difficult season. The club is only ninth in the Belgian league.

Sixth quarterfinal

AZ reached the last eight of the third European club tournament by beating Lazio. Both away and at home it was 2-1 for coach Pascal Jansen’s team.

It is the sixth time in club history that AZ has been in a European quarterfinal. The last time was in 2014, when Benfica were too strong in the Europa League.
