FC Twente begins European adventure against Hammarby of Sweden

FC Twente knows its first European opponent in the new season. The draw paired the Tukkers in the second preliminary round of the Conference League with Sweden’s Hammarby IF, the club of co-owner Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The first match is on Thursday, July 27 at the Grolsch Veste, with the return in Stockholm on August 3.

FC Twente, as winners of the playoffs, must survive a total of three preliminary rounds to enter the main tournament. The team of the new coach Joseph Oosting meets with Shaquille Pinas (ex-ADO Den Haag) a Dutchman at the midfielder from the Swedish league.

PSV (Champions League) and AZ (Conference League) will not be in action until the third preliminary round, while Ajax (Europa League) will begin its European season in the playoff round at the end of August.

Dutch champion Feyenoord is the only one directly qualified for a main tournament when it enters the group stage of the Champions League in September.
