A riot at the Red Devils. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will not travel with the Belgian soccer team to Estonia for Tuesday night’s European Championship qualifier.

The Belgian squad gathered at the training center in Tubize last night, after which the selection will fly to Estonia this afternoon. The Belgian federation confirmed that Courtois did not show up. The reason is as yet unclear.

Shared captaincy

Belgian media suspect that the 31-year-old goalkeeper is dissatisfied with the conduct of national coach Domenico Tedesco. Due to the absence of Kevin De Bruyne, Courtois would take the captaincy alongside Romelu Lukaku during the current international period.

During the past game, against Austria, Lukaku was the captain and Courtois would wear the belt during the game with Estonia.

Courtois was honored on Saturday at his 100th international appearance

The goalkeeper, who was honored for his 100th international before the game with Austria, would not agree with those arrangements and therefore skipped the trip to Estonia. Tedesco will give a press conference tonight in Tallinn in which it should become clear what exactly is going on.

Belgium fell short of a 1-1 draw against Austria. The Belgians have 4 points after two duels in EC qualification.
