Ghost of Tsushima, film development continues: new details

It has been two years since Sony announced it was working on a Ghost of Tsushima film: Chad Stahelski, known for his work on John Wick, will direct the film, and in a new interview with the ComicBookMovie website he updated us on how the project is going.
According to Stahelski’s words, work on the Ghost of Tsushima film is continuing well. The director stressed that considering the narrative and characters the game boasts, there is a lot of confidence that the film will have good material to build on. At the moment, the team would be working on keeping the visual style of Ghost of Tsushima intact and translating it into something more suitable for the big screen.
“This is something we are working on a lot,” he said. “I love the series. The story of Jin Sakai and the fact that it’s what I would call the most anti-samurai film out there because of the storylines and themes. For me, the journey that Jin Sakai takes through his transition or his choices about who to become and what people need him to become is interesting. The story and the characters in the story are definitely something I don’t want to lose in any way.”
“It’s also the artistic style that I want to keep. But how do I encapsulate all this information in a film so that it can be used for other feature films or a TV project like this? The trick is not ‘do we have great material?’ We know we have great material,” he added. “It’s how to make it palpable in any platform: ‘How can we make it into a great two- or two-and-a-half-hour film?’ Make it satisfying and leave the possibility to expand further from there. That’s the real challenge, how to take so much (that is) great and reduce it to a watchable level.”
Ghost of Tsushima is available on PS4 and PS5.
