Ajacans Rensch and Taylor not surprised: ‘Confidence that board finds good trainer’
The appointment of coach Maurice Steijn raised many eyebrows. However, Ajax players Kenneth Taylor and Devyne Rensch are happy that a new coach has been found well before the start of the preparations.
“It surprises everyone, but I don’t understand why it surprises everyone,” Taylor said of the choice of Steijn. “Nowadays everyone is name-oriented, but I think that’s a bit nonsense.”

Rensch concurs, saying he too wants to start the new chapter unbiased. Ajax will resume training under Steijn at the end of June, although the (youth) internationals will join the group a little later. “We will see,” he said.
“I have every confidence in the management,” the defender said of the choice of coach who led Sparta to sixth place in the premier league last season. “I wasn’t that concerned with it.”
Ajax finished third in the premier league last season, condemning them to the preliminaries of the Europa League after many seasons unbroken in the Champions League.
