Feyenoord brings Orange international Folkertsma back to the Netherlands

Feyenoord have committed Sisca Folkertsma for next season. The 26-year-old midfielder thus returns to the premier league.

Folkertsma made her debut for sc Heerenveen in 2012, then in the BeNe League. After that, she played in the premier league for Ajax, PSV and FC Twente respectively.

“Because my father is a Feyenoord supporter, I have also been fond of the club since childhood,” Folkertsma said on her new club’s website. “I hope to use my experience to help the young players in their development and in the process contribute my bit to the team process.”

Folkertsma had been playing soccer at Bordeaux since 2021. Last month she was selected again for Oranje for the first time in a long time. In total, she played 16 international matches.

Last season, Feyenoord, playing in the women’s premier league for the second year, finished in seventh place. A year earlier, the debut season for the Rotterdam club saw them finish fifth.
