De Graafschap not continuing with ailing coach Poldervaart: ‘Difficult decision’

NOS Football–
De Graafschap will not continue with Adrie Poldervaart as head coach. The first division club cites the coach’s private situation and view on the sporting future as the reason.
Poldervaart signed a two-year contract last May, but called in sick in February. The 52-year-old coach had been felled by the muscle disease Guillain Barré and has still not recovered. Richard Roelofsen took over his duties.
Difficult decision
The club has discussed the situation with Poldervaart. “A difficult decision where his recovery is central, but where we also know that the preparation for the new season starts soon,” stated technical manager Peter Bijvelds.
Exactly how matters with Poldervaart will be handled, De Graafschap has not yet said.
