Trump claims not to know Jean Carroll and says sex abuse conviction is “a disgrace”

Former U.S. President Donald Trump, has claimed after losing the trial against writer E. Jean Carroll that he does not know her and believes it is a “disgrace” the jury’s verdict. which on Tuesday found him liable for sexual abuse and defamation against her.

“I have no idea who this woman is. This verdict is a disgrace, a continuation of the greatest witch hunt of all time.“, wrote the businessman in a terse message written entirely in capital letters on his social network, Truth Social, minutes after the news broke.

Carroll accused Trump of having raped her on the department store fitting room in New York in the mid-1990s, and also of defaming her when she decided to go public with her complaint in a book she published in 2019.

Donald Trump held a press conference early this morning in Florida to respond to her imputation.

The jury began deliberating this morning after two weeks of trial and took less than three hours to reach a unanimous verdict, finding him liable for “sexual abuse,” but not rape, and defamation against Carroll in a civil trial.

The former president will have to pay the complainant $5 million in compensation.

This is the first occasion on which Trump has been convicted after leaving the presidency of the country., although last January his company, the Trump Organization, was sentenced to pay $1.61 million for a tax evasion scheme.
