Nathan Aké will miss his club Manchester City’s first match against Real Madrid in the Champions League semifinals.

The Dutch defender dropped out with an injury in Saturday’s 2-1 win against Leeds United and is not fit enough to travel to the Spanish capital. On Tuesday night, Pep Guardiola’s team plays there against Real Madrid.

Guardiola: ‘Once we will reach the Champions League final and win it too’

What injury Aké has was not disclosed by the club.

Guardiola maintains confidence

Manchester City became champions of the Premier League, considered the strongest league in the world, four times in the past five seasons. But winning the Champions League has never been possible.

Last year, Real Madrid was too strong in the final. “But we are not here in Madrid to take revenge,” manager Pep Guardiola said at the press conference. “We just see this as another chance.”

Winning the Champions League has been City’s big goal for years. “Once we will get to the final and win it,” he said.
