Spurs send coach Stellini home after dramatic defeat against Newcastle

NOS Soccer–
Tottenham Hotspur has fired coach Cristian Stellini. The London team lost in dramatic fashion to Newcastle United last weekend. After 21 minutes, Tottenham was already trailing 5-0. In the end, it became 6-1. Ryan Mason will take Stellini’s duties for the time being.
Stellini failed to achieve successes with the Spurs. Only one victory was recorded under his leadership. The Spurs are in fifth place in the Premier League. They are 22 points behind leader Arsenal.
Antonio Conte was fired late last month after a tirade at the press conference. The former Italy coach accused his players of “selfishness” after the game against Southampton. “We had 11 players on the pitch, I saw 11 selfish players, I saw players who did not want to help each other and who did not play with heart and soul,” he said.
He also lashed out harshly at owner Levy. “Tottenham Hotspur has had the same chairman for 20 years but never won anything. Why is that?”
Paratics gone
Last week, technical director Fabio Paratici also resigned from his position at Spurs. He was suspended for his possible role in financial mismanagement at Italian club Juventus, where he worked before coming to Spurs.
