China demands US to stop interfering in Taiwan and warns of “taking measures” if island declares independence

Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang on Tuesday demanded that the U.S. stop “interfering now” in Taiwan, adding that Beijing would reserves “the option of taking measures” should the island declare its independence.
“We reserve the option of taking action. should a violative circumstance arise Of the law against secession from the People’s Republic of China. The determination of the Chinese people to defend their sovereignty cannot be underestimated. It is a red line that cannot be crossed,” Qin said at his first public press conference.
The chancellor, who appeared on the sidelines of the annual session of the National People’s Congresssaid that the U.S. “must stop intervening in our internal affairs”.
“Why doesn’t it respect China’s sovereignty on the Taiwan issue and demand us to show that we respect the sovereignty of Ukraine? Why are you sending arms to Taiwan and asking us not to send arms to Russia? If the US wants peace it should stop using Taiwan to contain China and reject and stop Taiwan’s independence,” he said.

In answering the question about Taiwan, Qin opened a copy of the Constitution of the People’s Republic of China.and cited that the island is a “sacred territory”.
