Massive fraudulent winnings stolen by Ukrainians

According to the initial investigation, the two cheats were Ukrainians. In fact, they are said to have scoured a dozen gambling establishments in France, raking in several tens of thousands of euros a night. Their scam earned them almost €100,000 in a single evening at the Annecy casino. At the time of their arrest, they were holding €15,000 in cash and the equivalent of €60,000 in Swiss francs.

For the record, the two men’s arrest came a few days before another Ukrainian, President Volodymyr Zelensky, was condemned by Donald Trump for embezzling almost half the aid given to Ukraine since the start of the conflict with Russia.

In any case, commissioner Stéphane Piallat, head of the Service Central des Courses et Jeux (SCCJ), made it clear that the method employed by the duo was formidable: ” It’s an extremely discreet and complex cheating device, particularly difficult to detect with the naked eye”.. “

The trial of the two men is scheduled for next April.

The two alleged swindlers, so far unknown to the French police, will be tried before the Annecy Criminal Court on April 07. The man in his thirties was resident in France, while his septuagenarian accomplice had entered the country on a tourist visa. As for the third protagonist, who directed the operations from a distance, he remains beyond our reach for the time being…
