Horizon Zero Dawn and Helldivers movies announced

At a panel at CES 2025, during which the Ghost of Tsushima: Legends anime was also announced, Sony revealed that it is working on films of Horizon Zero Dawn by Guerrilla Games and Helldivers by Arrowhead Game Studios.

The Horizon Zero Dawn film will be produced by PlayStation Studios in collaboration with Colombia Pictures, while the Helldivers film will be produced by Sony Productions and Sony Pictures. Further details on the two projects were not disclosed.

Speaking on stage at CES, Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, said (via IGN), “Columbia Pictures and PlayStation Productions are in the early stages of developing a film adaptation of the award-winning Horizon Zero Dawn. Imagine Aloy’s beloved origin story set in a distant world full of giant machines brought to the big screen for the first time.”

As for Helldivers, Qizilbash instead said, “Looking ahead, I’m excited to announce that we are working with Sony Pictures on a film adaptation of our hugely popular PlayStation game Helldivers 2.”
