Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, a live-action film is already in the works

Last week, at a packed Xbox Developer Direct, Sandfall Interactive and Kepler Interactive announced the release date of the turn-based RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Coming in late April, the game already has an adaptation in the works.
This was revealed in a recent report by Variety, which let it be known that Story Kitchen will be handling the production of a live-action film of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. At the moment there are no further details about this, and we also do not know who will be in the cast and who will be the main staff members.
“We are excited to partner with Sandfall Interactive to bring the rich and immersive world of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 to the big screen,” said Dmitri M. Johnson and Mike Goldberg, founders of Story Kitchen. “The game’s compelling narrative and complex characters provide a great foundation for a cinematic experience that will appeal to gamers and movie fans alike.”
“Collaborating with Story Kitchen allows us to expand the Clair Obscur universe outside the world of video games,” added Guillaume Broche, CEO and creative director of Sandfall Interactive. “Their expertise in storytelling and passion for our vision make them the perfect team to turn our game into a captivating film.”
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is set in a fantasy world inspired by Belle Époque France. According to the official description, the game, available April 24 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series, “centers on the Painteress, a deity-like figure who each year paints a cursed number on her Monolith, causing all individuals of that age to disappear.” “As the number of people decreases each year, humanity faces extinction. Players will take on the role of Expedition 33 with the goal of ending this cycle by confronting the Painter before she paints death again.”
