Casino construction in Knokke-Heist under (very) close surveillance

The municipality of Knokke-Heist, on the Belgian coast, is pulling out all the stops to ensure the success of its ambitious casino project. Estimated at 110 million euros, the construction of the future Casino-Kursaal is being closely monitored to avoid any errors that could cause damage to neighbouring homes, as was the case in the past with the HOOST real estate project.

Casino-Kursaal: a modern complex that respects our heritage

The new Knokke-Heist casino will be more than just an entertainment venue, it will be a veritable cultural and events hub. Its architecture will blend historical heritage and modernity, with a casino, a nightclub and a 2,000 square metre art gallery.

It goes without saying that a new Kursaal, designed to host shows and events, will irrevocably enhance the site’s appeal. Canadasquare will also benefit from an underground extension, featuring restaurants and a 400-space parking lot.

The aim is clear: to offer residents and visitors a multi-functional space that will form a lasting part of the urban landscape, and that will do no harm to the residents of Knokke-Heist.

Reinforced precautions after the HOOST experience

Aware of past mistakes, the municipality decided to adopt a strict preventive approach. A team of independent experts was appointed to oversee every stage of the work. To this end, a budget of 500,000 euros was allocated to ensure compliance with building standards and the safety of neighboring homes.

This initiative is a direct result of incidents linked to the HOOST project, a 14-storey development comprising 97 homes. During construction, many local residents noticed cracks and subsidence in their homes, caused by construction activities. The situation necessitated municipal intervention and compensation, which in turn led to an increase in the number of accidents.heightened the need for vigilance on the part of the casino..

Mayor Cathy Coudyser stressed the importance of not repeating these mistakes: ” We want to avoid unexpected damage such as occurred during the prestigious HOOST project. That’s why we’ve pulled out all the stops to make sure it happens. We want to ensure the success of the project, but also the integrity of everyone involved.

A site under control for a promising future?

With delivery scheduled for 2032, the municipality is doing its utmost to ensure harmonious urban development that respects the quality of life of its residents. The construction of the Casino-Kursaal symbolizes a modern, secure vision of urban developmentcombining tradition and innovation. Thanks to reinforced control measures, this flagship project for Knokke-Heist should see the light of day without a hitch, providing the town with an emblematic site that looks to the future.
