Death Stranding, the live-action film will be produced by A24

After the first report last year, Kojima Productions today unveiled new information about the Death Stranding live-action film, specifically on who will be in charge of the production.

As announced in these minutes, the Japanese studio led by game director Hideo Kojima will collaborate with the production company A24, known for Everything Everywhere All At Once, for the making of this film to which Hammerstone Studios will also contribute.

Hideo Kojima said, “A24 was born in this world about 10 years ago, their presence is singular within the industry, they are like no one else. The films they offer to the world are of high quality and very innovative. I was attracted to their creations and they even inspired my work. Their innovative approach to storytelling is in line with what Kojima Productions has been doing for the past 8 years.”

“Now we are making a Death Stranding movie together. There are many films that adapt a video game, but what we are creating is not just a direct translation of the game. The intention is for our audience to be not only fans of the game, but for our film to be for anyone who loves movies. We are creating a never-before-seen Death Stranding universe that can only be realized through the medium of film,” he concluded.

Death Stranding is available on PC, PS4, and PS5. The sequel Death Stranding 2 is in development for PS5.
