Fallout, first images of Amazon TV series unveiled

Vanity Fair exclusively released this afternoon the first images of the Amazon TV series of Fallout, coming to the Prime Video streaming platform in April next year.
Ella Purnell will play protagonist Lucy, who must figure out how to survive 219 years after 2077, the year a nuclear war broke out all over planet Earth, along with Maximus (Aaron Moten) and another mysterious character.
While there will obviously be similarities to the dark atmosphere of the games, there will be no shortage of humor. “We’ve had a lot of conversations about the style of humor, the level of violence, the style of violence,” Todd Howard said. “Look, Fallout can be very dramatic, dark and post-apocalyptic, but you need to include some humor…. I think in the TV series they were able to take that step forward very well.”

Todd Howard, Bethesda executive producer and director of the games, is executive producer of the series, which features Purnell (Yellowjackets), Walton Goggins (The Hateful Eight), Moten (Emancipation), Moisés Arias (The King of Staten Island), Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks) and Sarita Choudhury (Homeland) in the cast.
Amazon had previously stated that the series would tell an original story set in a future, post-apocalyptic version of Los Angeles and would be considered a canonical addition to the existing franchise. In this regard, Howard added, “We consider what happens in the series to be canonical. That’s the beauty of it, when someone else looks at your work and translates it in some way. (…) I was interested in someone telling a unique Fallout story. Treat it like a game.”
The Fallout TV series will be available on Prime Video from April 12, 2024.
