Powerball jackpot reaches $1.73 billion… and there’s still no winner!

In the USA, the Powerball jackpot has officially reached 1.73 billion dollars, becoming the second largest jackpot in US history! It has to be said that no big winner was announced for the Monday, October 09 draw! The next draw is scheduled for the night of October 11, and there’s no doubt that Americans – just like other citizens of the world – will be trying their luck for the stars!

Powerball: the second-largest U.S. lottery jackpot at stake

The Powerball jackpot currently up for grabs is none other than the second largest in U.S. lottery history. Indeed, on November 07, 2022, the record sum of $2.04 billion was won in California. It was also in California that the third and fourth biggest Powerball jackpots were hit, on January 13, 2016 ($1.586 billion) and July 19, 2023 ($1.08 billion) respectively.

In the draw that took place on October 09, no one managed to find all six winning numbers, namely the white ball numbers 16, 34, 46, 55 and 67, and the red Powerball number 14. The Power Play® multiplier was x 3. Nevertheless, the draw generated more than 3.7 million winning tickets nationwide, including four tickets whose lucky owners guessed all the correct white ball numbers, winning $1 million each. The four winners are based in California, Indiana, Oregon and Virginia.

Although no one was able to win the jackpot, one Florida resident has a lot to be happy about! Following the draw on Monday, October 09, this person, who predicted the five winning white balls and placed an additional $1 bet via the Power Play® option, received a total payout of $2 million! Other notable wins included some seventeen $150,000 winning tickets and one hundred and one $50,000 winning tickets.

Who will win the 36th Powerball jackpot draw?

The upcoming draw on the night of October 11, 2023 will be the thirty-sixth in this incredible jackpot race! But that’s not all: it will also be the draw where consecutive jackpot cycles will have generated a sum of $1 billion in major rewards for the first time in Powerball history!

Note that if a winner emerges in the next draw, he or she can choose to receive his or her reward in one of two ways. The winner will either receive a net lump-sum payment estimated at $756.6 million, or an annuity of $1.73 billion, divided into twenty-nine annual payments increasing by 5% each year until the total balance is paid.
