An outstanding result by the Dutch volleyball players, who won convincingly against Bulgaria in the Nations League. In three sets the game was already decided: 26-24, 25-17, 25-17.

Last Friday the Netherlands won handsomely from Poland, yesterday they lost narrowly to Italy. The new win moves the Netherlands up the Nations League rankings to place thirteen and distances them from the tail. Prior to the weekend, Felix Koslowski’s team was still ranked fourteenth.

Against number fourteen Bulgaria they started dramatically. After barely 15 minutes, the Netherlands looked at an 8-1 deficit. But then it revenged itself. Even the set went to the Netherlands, as Bulgaria failed to capitalize on three set points.

Jolien Knollema knew what to do with it and hit the first set for the Netherlands on the scoreboard.

After that, the volleyball players, where Celeste Plak participated again, kept going. Bulgaria could no longer make a fist offensively. In addition, the Bulgarians could not cope with the blocks – sixteen in total – from the Netherlands.

And that led to a convincing second set win, including eight points in a row. Bulgaria’s resistance was broken: the third set also went easily to the Netherlands: 3-0.
