The U.S. soccer players will miss captain Becky Sauerbrunn at next month’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. The 38-year-old defender is still suffering too much from a foot injury.

“It breaks my heart, but this is sport,” Sauerbrunn said. “I worked hard and hoped it would work out to be fit in time. But it’s not in the cards.” The 216-time international was injured at a match of her club Portland Thorns in April.

The Dutch women will take on the United States, who are defending their title at the World Cup, in the group stage on July 27. The other opponents in the group are Vietnam and Portugal.
