FC Utrecht snaps up fifth reinforcement already with dribbler Azarkan

NOS Football–
FC Utrecht has strengthened with Marouan Azarkan. The 21-year-old winger signed a four-year contract in the city of Dom, until mid-2027. The Rotterdam native still had a one-year contract with Feyenoord and was one of Excelsior’s standouts last season on a rental basis. The clubs made no announcements about the transfer fee.
“With Marouan we bring in a young, agile winger who possesses a large dose of creativity and a good dribble,” explained technical director Jordy Zuidam. “His insight into the game coupled with his ball retention and efficiency also make him an asset to the club.”
No breakthrough at Feyenoord
Azarkan went through Feyenoord’s youth training and played twice in the premier league for the club from Rotterdam-Zuid. Midway through the 2020/2021 season, Azarkan was rented out to NAC Breda and for the past two years he played on a rental basis with Excelsior. He scored three goals and provided eight assists in 27 premier league matches for the Kralingers.
The striker is FC Utrecht’s fifth reinforcement in this transfer period. Earlier Souffian El Karouani (NEC), Mats Seuntjens (RKC Waalwijk), Ole Romeny (FC Emmen) and Adrian Blake (Watford) signed a contract in Utrecht.
