Dead Cells will receive a 10-episode animated series

Over the years Dead Cells, the popular metroidvania from Evil Empire and Motion Twin, has received a series of animated trailers for its dozens of free updates, and now the creators want to aim high.

The French streaming platform ADN, in fact, has announced that it will release a full-fledged Dead Cells animated series over the next year. This series will be made by Bobbypills, a Paris-based animation studio “full of depressed, fantastic and sick people making cartoons for depressed, fantastic and sick people.” Bobbypills, moreover, is the studio of Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, an anime of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon that will be released on Netflix soon.

The Dead Cells animated series will consist of 10 seven-minute episodes that will only be available in France before coming to other territories. The show will take viewers to a “cursed island that has been struck by a strange plague.” The king of the island creates an ominous remedy that ends up having the opposite effect, turning the population into monstrous creatures. Prophecies speak of a “flame-headed hero” who will save the day. And when he appears, he just wants to be left alone.

Dead Cells is available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and mobile.
