Stanley Menzo has been fired as coach of Chinese club Beijing Guoan. This is reported by the state news agency Xinhua.

The former Ajax goalkeeper worked for the club for two periods. Between January 2019 and November 2020, he trained the reserve team. He later became national coach of Suriname, but resigned that role when Beijing Guoan came with a lucrative offer.

Menzo began his coaching career in the Netherlands at then-professional club AGOVV. He also worked for Amsterdam’s AFC and was goalkeeper coach with the Dutch national team.

Beijing Guoan is currently seventh in the standings of the Chinese Super League. The team played a 2-2 draw against Dalian Pro on Friday.

“We thank Menzo for all his commitment to the club and wish him and his family all the best for the future,” the club said in a statement.
