Buijs new trainer Fortuna Sittard; he succeeds Spaniard Velázquez

Danny Buijs has been appointed as the new head coach by Fortuna Sittard. The Dordrecht native, who celebrates his 41st birthday later this month, is the successor to Julio Velázquez, who is packing up after one season.
The Spanish coach relieved Sjors Ultee last September, when Fortuna was languishing in eighteenth place in the premier league. The Limburgers eventually finished thirteenth.
Briefly at KV Mechelen
Former professional footballer Buijs (Feyenoord and others) was head coach of FC Groningen for four seasons from 2018 before leaving for Belgian side KV Mechelen. There he soon got his congè after 12 league matches and three consecutive defeats.
In Sittard, Buijs signed a two-year contract.
