The ball is in the court: all clubs in the premier league must play on natural or hybrid grass starting in the 2025/2026 season. That decision was made Monday by the Eredivisie CV and the eighteen premier league clubs.

Starting next season, a match protocol is already in force, which includes qualitative requirements for both natural, hybrid and artificial grass pitches. After that, therefore, the rules will become even stricter.

Broadcast rights

The meeting agenda also included discussing the media contract, but it did not come to that.

“Talks on a possible new media contract from the 2025 season are still ongoing. For that reason, contrary to earlier reports, no decision has yet been made on this by the clubs,” said the Eredivisie CV.

The broadcasting rights of the premier league matches are still in the hands of ESPN through 2025, but TV providers KPN, T-Mobile, VodafoneZiggo and DELTA are also said to have submitted bids.
