Timon Wellenreuther will also be part of the Feyenoord squad for the next few seasons. The 27-year-old goalkeeper was rented from Anderlecht last season and now signs a two-year contract with the national champions from Rotterdam.

Wellenreuther made 14 appearances for Feyenoord this season, when first goalkeeper Justin Bijlow was unavailable due to injury.

“It has been a particularly nice and good season both for Feyenoord and for me personally,” Wellenreuther said on the Feyenoord website.

“I was able to quickly find my niche here and am happy that I was able to make my contribution when I got the chance. I’m looking forward to continuing the upward trend together after the summer break.”

A highlight for Wellenreuther was the game against Ajax, when he prevented a goal by Mohammed Kudus just before time.

Last week Wellenreuther received a farewell gift from the club, as his lease had expired. By then it was already clear that he might stay longer in Rotterdam.

Ofir Marciano (expiring contract) and Sebastian Szymański (rented) were also already bid farewell, but they too may remain linked to Feyenoord for longer.
