Speaking to Deadline to discuss the writers’ strike currently underway in Hollywood, Francesca Orsi, head of drama at HBO, revealed that the second season of The Last of Us is currently scheduled for 2025.

“Although everything is penciled in right now, I’m hopeful that we can come up with terms sooner than expected. Otherwise, we will have to look at what is the end of the 2024 schedule, what are the shows that are coming out in 2025,” Orsi told Deadline. “We were looking at The Last Of Us for some time in 2025.”

As anticipated a few days ago, work on the second season of The Last of Us is at a standstill precisely because of the writers’ strike: at the moment, it is not even clear whether casting is finished.
