Police officer shoots 11-year-old boy in the chest after he called 911 for family argument

The use of firearms is again in the news in the United States. In this case it has been on the part of a policeman towards a boy of just 11 years old. The events occurred last Saturday in the state of Mississippi, when the young Aderrien Murry called the emergency services for domestic disturbances and ended up being shot by one of the officers who came.

According to the mother’s account to the U.S. media CNNasked her son to call the police after seeing that the father of another of her children had arrived home at 4 a.m. “furious”.

Following the call, several police officers arrived at the house and, as the family recounts, as soon as they arrived “they were pointing their gun at the front door.” and one of the agents asked everyone inside to come out. As Aderrien Murry rounded the corner of the hallway, the agent opened fire, wounding him in the chest.

“His words were: why did you shoot me? What did I do?” and he started crying,” said the young man’s mother, who explained that she covered her son’s wound with her hand. The officer also helped her until medics arrived.

At the moment the circumstances that led the officer to shoot have not been clarified and the family asks for the recordings to be made public body recordings of the police officer involved, who is on leave while the shooting is investigated.

After several days in the hospital, the boy was discharged on Friday and is recovering at home from a treated collapsed lung, a rib fracture and liver laceration.

The family held a press conference this week in front of Indianola City Hall, where they called for the police officer to be tried and removed from the force.
