Van de Donk and suspended Egurrola win with Lyon again over PSG and grab double

NOS Football–
In a direct duel with rival Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique Lyon’s women took the national title in France. The team of Netherlands internationals Danielle van de Donk and Damaris Egurrola won 0-1 in Paris.
With that, Lyon grabbed the double. Last week, PSG was already beaten in the cup final (2-1). In that game Egurrola received red (twice yellow) which meant she was suspended for the championship match. Van de Donk did start Sunday night at the Parc de Princes. On the PSG side, Lieke Martens and Jackie Groenen were two Dutch national team players.
It is the second national title in her career for Van de Donk (31). Last season, her first year in France, the former midfielder of English Arsenal and Swedish Gothenburg also became champion.
Due to a serious injury, Van de Donk had limited input in that first title. This season, however, she almost always participated: she played 19 of the 21 games.
World Cup starts in July
The match against PSG was decided shortly before time. In the 88th minute, Danish substitute Signe Bruun provided the winning goal. It is the 16th national title for Lyon, which is by far the most successful team in the country.
PSG has never been champion. For the team from the capital, it was only the first league defeat of the season. Lyon also lost only once and played draw only once. PSG finished in second place because it drew four times.
Lyon and PSG have already been eliminated in the Champions League. On June 3, FC Barcelona and Dutch side VfL Wolfsburg will play each other in the final in Eindhoven.
As a result, Van de Donk, Egurrola, Martens and Groenen can start preparing early for the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, which starts for Orange on July 23. Next weekend the final league match in the French Ligue 1 is scheduled.
