Supporters association De Feijenoorder has raised over 100,000 euros in one day for the celebration of Feyenoord’s likely upcoming championship. The money will pay for huge banners and a mural, writes Rijnmond.
The fundraising began last night a little after 7 p.m. via crowdfunding. Within an hour, 30,000 euros had already been raised. The website of the supporters’ club regularly became overloaded with the many donations. Today, before noon, more than 110,000 euros had been collected.
Coming weekend
Feyenoord can clinch the sixteenth national title in club history next weekend. If PSV lose points against Sparta on Saturday night, Feyenoord can officially become champions a day later. If not, a retake against Go Ahead Eagles awaits a week later.
The Rotterdammers also celebrated the title win exuberantly before. In 2017, the then Shell building was papered with a huge banner.
Volunteers then worked hundreds of hours on the 128-by-46-meter banner, weighing 900 kilograms. The supporters’ club wants to make a subsequent banner even bigger.
