Vampire Survivors will receive an animated TV series

Deadline exclusively revealed that Vampire Survivors, the hugely popular roguelike title by poncle and Italian Luca Galante, will become an animated TV series.

The game is set in 2021 in rural Italy. “There was an evil person named Bisconte Draculó, whose many evil spells created an evil world full of famine and suffering. It is now up to the members of the Belpaese Family to end his reign of terror and bring good food back to the table,” reads the official description.

There is not much information about this adaptation yet, except that the production is looking for a screenwriter and that the project will be sold to cartoon networks. The Story Kitchen team will be in charge of production.

“There is no place to hide-all you can do is try to survive a cursed night and get as much gold as possible for the next survivor-before Death inevitably puts an end to your struggles. Take down thousands of nocturnal creatures and survive until dawn! This is a gothic horror action game in which your choices can enable you to quickly overcome the hundreds of monsters thrown at you.”

“The most important thing in Vampire Survivors is the story, so it’s a dream come true to see what started as a little indie game I used to play on my weekends come to life as an animated TV series!” says poncle founder Galante. “It’s also great to collaborate with such experienced and talented people to make the show. However, I wonder if they realized that there is not a single vampire in Vampire Survivors.”

Story Kitchen co-founder Dmitri M. Johnson said, “When our Head of Creative, Dan Jevons, brought Vampire Survivors to our attention last year upon its initial release, we were ready to dismiss it as just another vampire game. Hundreds of hours of gameplay later, we were all hooked and couldn’t get enough of it. Needless to say, we are truly honored to partner with this incredible team and continue the story of Vampire Survivors!”
