Leaders Arsenal also lose points against straggler Southampton

Leaders Arsenal drew 3-3 against bottom-placed Southampton at their own stadium on Friday night. Pursuers Manchester City now have one loss point less than the London team. However, the defending champion and No. 2 has played two fewer games. City will not play in the Premier League this weekend because of Saturday’s FA Cup semifinal against Sheffield United.
On Wednesday night, Manchester City-Arsenal is scheduled to play.
Carlos Alcaráz and Theo Walcott, who played thirteen years at Arsenal, brought the guests to a surprising 0-2 lead within fifteen minutes.
Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli quickly brought Arsenal back into the game in the 20th minute. After over an hour, Duje Caleta-Car appeared to decide the game in Southampton’s favor, but Martin Ødegaard and Bukayo Saka gave Arsenal a point in the final minutes of regular playing time.
It is the third draw for Arsenal in a row in the league.
